Meet The Club Manager/Director Of Tennis

Originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, Chris has over twenty five years teaching experience. Before moving back to Ohio in November of 2007, Chris was a Staff Professional at Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, SC.

Chris played a pivotal role in the marketing of many tennis center programs including: The Daniel Island School Initiative, Island Sports Camp as well as USTA programs such as Tennis Block Parties, Welcome Back to Tennis, Low country Slamboree, Micro Cup 36’ 60’ and the SC All Star Camp. He performed various managerial duties in the operation of the Tier I WTA Tour Family Circle Cup, Southern Sectional tournament, SC Combo Doubles tournaments, and the nationally sponsored SMASH Junior Cup. Chris also Founded and Directed the Matilda Blue Adaptive Tennis Serving for Autism Tennis Program.

In September of 2001 Chris started a five year run as an Ohio Tennis Professional, as a member of the KTC Quail Tennis Club in Kettering, OH. Chris also spent four years as Director of Tennis of the Middletown Sports Complex in Middletown, OH. While holding this position Chris became the Athletic Director of the Middletown Preparatory and Fitness Academy, a 300 student K-8 Charter School as well as the Director of Tennis at the Browns Run Country Club.

Chris became a USPTA certified professional in 1985 and he started his career with the 4-Star Tennis Academy in Northern Virginia. He then went north to Boston, MA and became the Director of Junior Tennis Programs at the Longfellow Tennis and Fitness Club in Wayland, MA. While in this position Chris marketed, managed and fiscally planned all programs. He also was the Longfellow Summer Camp Director, a USTA Zonal Team Coach and a New England representative at the USTA Quebec Club. Following his time in Boston, Chris was a Director of Tennis, Head Tennis Pro and Outreach Director at three metro Atlanta, GA. Tennis Clubs: The Olde Town Athletic Club in Marietta, The North side Athletic Cub in Buckhead and The Seven Oaks Club in Alpharetta.Chris then returned to his home state of Virginia to become the Director of Tennis for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia. While in Charlottesville Chris became a USTA Training Center Coach and a MANDT certified classroom teacher specializing in behavioral management of children with special needs.

Chris has held many USTA and USPTA rankings. He has participated in numerous USTA and USPTA National Conventions. Chris still loves being on court. Especially, when playing with very young beginners. Over the past two years Chris has designed and developed tennis curriculum for 3, 4, 5 and 6 years olds that involve the on court participation of parents and siblings with their children.

Chris and his Wife Rachel live in Oakwood with their two children: Nicholas, 8 and Isabelle, 4. Chris also has two older children who reside in Atlanta GA. Matthew, 19 and Frannie, 16.
